Challenge

Deliver over 300 m of earth-retaining walls within a floodplain-constrained industrial redevelopment, balancing strict DA flood elevation requirements with tight boundary offsets, underground culverts, and heavy pavement loadings — all while aligning with a fast-paced construction program.

Solution

Konceptual designed modular Keystone block walls with geogrid reinforcement and No-Fines-Concrete across four facades of the logistics estate. The walls accommodated complex earthworks, hydrostatic uplift, Higher than usual loads, and 100-year flood constraints. Staged construction enabled early drainage and slab works without delaying the flood infrastructure.

Key Highlights

  • 1100m2 of segmental retaining wall blocks, up to 3.2 m high.
  • 80% grid coverage via positive-connection blocks, dsespite enormous loading requirements reducing cost by 15%
  • less than 20 mm settlement over soft marine clays by incorporating ground improvement techniques
  • Utilizing both Positive and Frictional connection types as well as NFC walls
