Challenge
Integrate a 2 tonne pedestal crane into an existing waffle-slab turbine floor of unknown capacity without interrupting live dam operations.
Solution
We built a plate-and-shell FEA model to verify the slab’s load-bearing performance, designed a 1 t concrete hatch with embedded lifting hooks, and specified local reinforcement and a staged install to keep the turbine room online.

- Slab capacity confirmed for 2 tonne crane with <1 mm peak deflection
